Survivor Nicaragua: The Wrath of Jane

After a recap of last week’s episode and the mild shake up of Benry’s back door exit, Survivor Nicaruagua got started with an uncomfortable return to camp. Fabio was surprised at the vote, but happy to still be in the game. After more drama than you can shake a stick at, Jane’s alliance turned on her this week when the got the opportunity. Jane was sent out the front door and off Survivor Nicaragua.

The six remaining players were in for a treat this week. The Reward Challenge brought messages from home and a chance to spend time with them. After much product placement of the new Sprint EVO phone, Survivor players were sent to the challenge in hopes of seeing loved ones in the flesh. They weren’t disappointed. Chase stuck his big size 12’s in his mouth again, as he promised Fabio he would choose him to join the reward if he won it again.

The reunion with loved ones took place just before the challenge. Chase’s mom, Sash’s mom, Jane’s daughter, Dan’s son, Holly’s husband and Fabio’s mom joined the cast. The challenge was fairly easy. Survivor players would race through water to get bags of puzzle pieces and bring back to their family member. The family member would then assemble the puzzle (letters) to spell: Family Comes First. Dan trailed the entire time... again.

Chase’s mom is as competitive as her son. They won the challenge easily. Jeff Probst then told Chase he could choose one other pair to join them on a lunch date for reward. Chase chose Sash quickly. Probst then said Chase could choose one more pair. Chase chose Holly and her husband, leaving Fabio sobbing in his mother’s arms.

“What’s going to happen to the rest of them?” asked Chase.
“They’ll be will be taken and executed...” replied Jeff Probst without skipping a beat.

Fabio’s (Juddy) mom told him to stay strong and that they would have plenty of time to spend together when Survivor Nicaragua is over. Dan’s son called Chase a duche bag after not being chosen by Chase. Dan and his sons are obviously very tight, their reunion closely resembled a skit from SNL (where the family is affectionate to the extreme).

While away on reward, Chase, Holly and Sash finalized plans to go to the final three together. The plan was to vote off Fabio first, then Dan....

Chase was greeted by a disgruntled Fabio upon their return to camp. Fabio made the comment that Chase had gotten four great rewards in a row. He apparently failed to understand that he had an equal chance to win those rewards. I was on team Fabio (and still probably am), but man up kid.

The Immunity Challenge was fairly easy. The entire goal for the remaining Survivor Nicaragua players was to keep Fabio from winning. Each would be blindfolded and tethered to a rope. Follow the rope to a podium and feel to memorize a shield. Grab three bags of pieces and follow the rope back to a blank podium. Fill in the pieces (still blindfolded) the same way they were on the other shield and win.

Fabio led the entire way.... Dan took his normal position at the back of the pack. It became apparent that Fabio should play the rest of the game with a blindfold. He completed the task long before anyone else, and won individual immunity.

Chase, Sash and Holly met in the woods to decide whose game they would end at Tribal Council tonight. Chase was all for voting off Dan, who has said he’s done nearly daily since the beginning of the game. Sash and Holly saw it as a perfect opportunity to get Jane out of the game. Marty’s speech about Jane winning has played heavily on these guys. Chase was against it, but with no backbone or decision making muscle in his brain, he looked like one of Jane’s fish on the line.

Jane heard her crew in the woods and went to find out the plan. She could tell right away there was a problem. They all seemed to bristle and stand back from her... their plan became obvious. Jane asked point blank if they were going to turn on her (looking right at her boy, Chase). They all finally admitted that they were planning on taking her out tonight.

Had Jane been smart, she would have talked to Fabio and Dan about other plans during the Reward Challenge. Had she been smart, Jane would have told Dan about Holly's shoe thievery early in the game. Had she been smart, Jane would have had a contigancy plan.

Instead...Jane told us to prepare for the “wrath of Jane”. Jane went on the war path. Before leaving camp for Tribal Council, Jane grabbed a bucket of water and obliterated the campfire saying, “I started it, I’ll put it out!”

At Tribal Council Jane came out firing. She pretty much said she was taking them all down with her. She told of the four way alliance with Chase, Sash and Holly, and how they planned to take her out tonight. Jane said she was disgusted with Holly’s ethics on the island considering her line of work. Jane spilled the beans on Holly for stealing Dan’s shoes in the beginning of Survivor Nicaragua. Dan and Fabio sat with mouths agape as Jane ratted out the dirty deeds to the jury members.

As he’s had to several times this season, Jeff Probst put on his game playing clothes and jumped into the conversation. He channeled the voice of his mother and asked why Jane, Fabio and Dan did not team up and try to force a tie or something.. anything? The players actually looked like it was the first time this had crossed their minds. Jane told Fabio and Dan to vote for Holly to tie. It was obvious that Jane’s goose was cooked though, already.

This was the last week to play a Hidden Immunity Idol, so both Sash and Chase were safe automatically as they handed them over. Jeff Probst read the votes... all voted for Jane. What truly amazed me was that Jane voted for Sash. Um... what? So even if she managed to plant the seed for Dan and Fabio to vote for Holly, Jane would have gone home anyway (due to her own vote). Pretty obvious that Jane gave up on Survivor Nicaragua as soon as her homeboy Chase turned on her.
