"Chuck" returns to the NBC Monday night line up this week. The season premier will run tonight though. At the end of last season, Chuck Bartowski (Zachary Levi) was 'downloaded' with some serious weaponry. Now he can be a full fledged government agent.
I'm not sure if I'll like the new and improved Chuck. I was really fond of the geeky, clutzy Bartowski that had to be saved from all villains by the nasty John Casey (Adam Baldwin). I also liked the normalcy Chuck brought to the crazed lives of the government agents all around him.
I know Chuck will be fun for the first few episodes as he learns the powers he now possesses. It will be interesting to see how he matures now.
As far as the 'love' affair of Chuck and Sarah Walker (the lead agent sent to protect Chuck), again I enjoyed the old goofy Chuck. Hopefully these new powers won't change his down to earth personality. The main issue holding Sarah back before was Chuck's normalcy, maybe now things can progress to a more serous level between the two.
I am anxious to see the look on Agent Casey's face when Chuck unleashes his new prowess on the enemy agents. Adam Baldwin has always been a favorite of mine and his role in "Chuck" is no different. Agent Casey and Chuck have a hate/hate relationship with a tiny dash of respect tossed in. Hopefully Chuck's new powers will have the two men working together more this season, I would hate to not see Baldwin as much.
The two hour premier of "Chuck" airs tonight at 9/8c on NBC.
Update:
So after watching the double episode of "Chuck" last night, I'm happy to report that we get the old Chuck back!
The beginning was a little confusing (to say the least), with flips back and forth in time. It really didn't matter in the end. The first one hour episode started with why Chuck Bartowski does not make a good spy... he has feelings.
I'm glad they cleared that up.
By the second episode the entire team of "Chuck" was reunited at the Buy More (a Best Buy/Walmart type store), and thing finally get back to 'normal'. It doesn't even matter who is chasing Chuck and Sarah, the fun is in watching the chase. I'm glad we'll continue to see Chuck accidentally get out of situations.
So I'll be happily watching "Chuck" again every Monday night on NBC. Thanks writers!
