American Idol 10: Casey Abrams Goes Home for Good This Time

The real shocker of tonight’s American Idol live elimination show was that Haley Reinhart was the first one sent to the top five. The rest would have painfully wait with us, as Ryan Seacrest clumsily stretched 15 minutes worth of material into an hour. It was rough. When the votes were finally revealed, it was Casey Abrams who performed a sexy swan song as he left the Idol stage in sixth place.

Steven Tyler was given props to start the night, for being on the cover of two magazines right now. “I may be good, but when I’m bad I’m better!” Tyler told Seacrest.

Video of Casey's "I Put a Spell on You" below!

For some reason the American Idol hopefuls were whisked away to London for a bash before the Royal Wedding. They seemed completely out of place, but hey at least they got the hang out with Fred Willard for a while. Love me some Fred Willard.

Some things should not be mixed, ever. Listening to this group of six on American Idol is like drinking  Jack Daniels with ice cream. It just should not happen. It’s not the arrangements. Nor is it any single performer, but it makes them all sound off. They don’t gel as a full group, so producers please stop forcing it. The duets work though, usually.

AI season nine runner-up Crystal Bowersox took back the stage tonight. She sounded and looked great, though it was a little too folk/country for my tastes. Steven Tyler looked asleep during the performance. It wasn’t that bad, maybe his meds kicked in.

Next we saw some Idol trivia, with the final six answering a few questions from the public. Lauren was worried for her brother yesterday during the tornadoes in the south. She finally got in contact with him and he’s fine.

We also learned Scotty worked part-time in a local tanning salon back home. “I stayed out front most of the time, “ said a blushing McCreery. Ya think? It must not have even had windows.

Finally Ryan started doling out results, at least that’s what he wanted us to think. After calling Haley Reinhart and Scotty McCreery to the stage, he quickly pronounced Haley safe. Seacrest told Scotty to have a seat for a while. Then he did the same with each one individually, adding tape of Jimmy Iovine with critiques for each. Lauren and Casey were both told to wait with Scotty,

James Durbin was called out with Jacob Lusk. It was no surprise James was the second one named to the Idol top five. Lauren Alaina followed Durbin quickly, and Ryan acted like Scotty, Casey and Jacob were the bottom three this week. Only after the commercial did he say “this is in no particular order this week,” so likely they were not the bottom three in votes.

It was a bit of a shock that Jacob Lusk outlasted Casey Abrams on American Idol. I don’t think Casey had a good night last night, but he had fun. He definitely had fun on his way out.

This was no doubt the least saddest, most memorable sing-outs in Idol history. Casey took the mic and growled through “I Put a Spell on You” like nobody’s business. He kissed literally every single girl (and Steven Tyler) that he could get his lips on. It was time for Casey to leave, and he doesn’t mind a bit. Ending the song on a sweet note tonight, Casey sang to each one left in the top five, ending with a cute look right into Haley’s face. Rumors are flying about the two dating….

The AI Season 10 Top 5 are: James Durbin, Scotty McCreery, Lauren Alaina, Haley Reinhart and Jacob Lusk.

What did you think of Casey being eliminated on American Idol 10 tonight? Did you think it would be Jacob? How do you like the top five?
