The Amazing Race 17: Remember Those Volleyball Ladies...?

Tonight was the 5th leg of The Amazing Race 17, and it was a little boring. Hard to believe the race could be boring, but this season has not seemed as rigorous as past ones. Little changed in the final line up tonight. The volleyball players, Katie & Rachel, started in last and ended in last. Katie & Rachel (who?) were eliminated in the 5th leg of The Amazing Race 17.

Here is how the 5th leg played out.

Teams left Sweden for Narvik, Norway and the mountains. Nat & Kat left first and thought they were in trouble right away (with Nat’s fear of heights looming).

The first roadblock had a Fast Forward available to the first team able to complete it. Kat & Nat went for it. It was a gross eating challenge (a goat head), and Nat is a vegetarian).


The Roadblock for the other teams was a repel off a bridge, then hoist yourself back up. This looked pretty brutal. It was called “Strength, Stamina & Guts” for good reason.

When Nick and Vicky reached the Roadblock and saw the “taken” sign for the Fast Forward they were completely confused. The conversation went like this: Vicky, “Taken? I’m confused... does that mean we wait for it?... do they bring it back?” Nick, “I don’t care what that sign says, let’s go!” I want to visit Nick & Vicky’s world some time, it looks fun!

Teams came out of the Roadblock in this order: Kevin & MIchael, Gary & Mallory, Jill & Thomas, Brook & Claire, Nick & Vicky, Chad & Stephanie and Katie & Rachel.

The Detour was next: Bike or Boat. In Bike, teams had to ride bikes uphill to a set of lock combinations, then ride back and unlock their clue. In boat, teams had to ride a fishing boat to a spot and pick up a chain saw and some huge fish to deliver to a cabin. Not too exciting.

These teams chose Bike: Gary & Mallory, Thomas & Jill, Nick & Vicky
These teams chose Boat: Michael & Kevin, Brooke & Claire, Chad & Stephanie and Katie & Rachel.

Nothing spectacular happened on any of the tasks tonight, and Nat & Kat managed to eat the mess for the Fast Forward.

Here’s how the teams finished on the 5th leg of The Amazing Race 17:

6. Nick & Vicky (thought they just might be in second place!)

*Eliminated: Katie & Rachel

That’s it for this week on The Amazing Race 17. Teams are off to Russia next week, hopefully it will be a tougher leg. Who is your favorite team this season?
