Another new twist hit the contestants on The Biggest Loser this week. Yep, that’s a new twist weekly now... and there’s another coming next week. First a red line was added to the weigh in and the person finishing last would be automatically eliminated from TBL 10. Sophia fell below the red line. After a case of severe tendonitis and falling below the yellow line, Burgandy was eliminated by votes at the end.

Tonight started out with a cupcake challenge. The temptations are nothing new to The Biggest Loser ranch, and are there to prepare the players for the ‘real world’. In the cupcake challenge, those who wished to participate played for a disc worth pounds in the weigh in. The twist: the disc was worth one pound tonight if used, or it gains a pound per week until the winner uses it, so it could be worth 8 pounds if the winner saves it. Of course, you had to eat cupcakes to get clues to the whereabouts of the disc.

Only four contestants chose to try the temptation challenge. It came down to a race between Rick and Adam for the winning cupcake. Adam saw Rick reaching and took it right out of his hand (nearly), winning the disc and weight advantage. Now the rest had to work off the needless calories for trying.

Curtis Stone to the rescue! Hunky celebrity Chef Curtis Stone came to The Biggest Loser ranch to teach the players that you can eat desserts like cupcakes, you just need to make them differently. He substituted egg whites for eggs, honey for sugar and wheat flour for white flour. The result was a rasberry cupcake that the players said was excellent tasting and much lighter than a regular cupcake. Honestly, I just stared at Curtis!

Here is the recipe for Curtis Stone's 100 Calorie Cupcake!

A new twist at the weigh in tonight, again held midweek, was a red line. The person with the lowest percentage of weight loss would fall below the red line and be automatically eliminated from The Biggest Loser ranch. They still have a chance to win the at-home prize though.

Here are the weigh in results: (Adam chose not to use his 1lb pass so it is now worth 2lbs next week)
                 Start          End          Weight Loss
Mark           369           361              -8lbs
Elizabeth     229           223              -6lbs
Patrick        366           356             -10lbs
Lisa            267           260              -7lbs
Aaron         431            419            -12lbs
Rick            306            297              -9lbs
Jesse          329            321              -8lbs
Burgandy     218            213              -5lbs
Ada             234           224              -10lbs (wow!)
Jessica        261            254               -7lbs
Brendan      326            315              -11lbs
Frado          337            317              -20lbs (wow!)
Adam          356            346              -10lbs
Sophia        252            250                -2lbs

Sophia was eliminated with a 2lb weight loss this week. As she said her good-byes she told us she needed to go so she could stand on her own two feet. Then she said she really leans on her mom at home, and at the ranch she was all alone... um, yeah, that makes zero sense. I think it was only right that Sophia leave The Biggest Loser.

Ada has other issues. She is obviously a strong competitor, throwing off 10lbs this week and never falling below the yellow line yet (the only woman safe every week so far). Ada told Jillian she had not had a n emotional breakthrough yet though and did not appear too pleased with her tremendous loss this week. Jillian had plans... big, breakthrough plans for Ada. Jillian told her, “that’s because I haven’t MADE you have one yet”.

Jillian put her attention on Ada during the final workout. Pushed her until she quit, then asked her if she was happy. “Is this where you’re happy? As a quitter?”, asked Jillian. Ada walked out of the gym and sat down to talk. Her parents blame her for the death of her baby brother in a drowning accident when she was only a child herself. That’s a huge heavy load for one person to carry. It appeared Jillian’s talk with her may have broken through, but still little emotion showed from Ada. She does not know how to be happy... yet.

Bob took all of the people below the yellow line to his home, a Biggest Loser first, for a home cooked vegan meal. He showed them inside his refrigerator, where there seemed to be little food. His point was to say that your food should only have a two week shelf life. No need for a fridge full of processed crap. He then served them a full veggie meal that actually looked pretty good (and I hate veggies). Color is the key to food, Bob told the players. The more colorful your food is, the healthier it is.

The six players to fall below the yellow line were: Mark, Elizabeth, Lisa, Jesse, Burgandy and Jessica. Frado won the weigh in again, and had the power to save one person from the final challenge. He chose Jessica.

The final challenge was brutal. Each had to unroll a 900lb square (yep, a square) of carpet and race back to the start. Mark and Jesse finished first. Lisa came in next and all three went back to cheer Elizabeth to the finish line. She did finish (without her inhaler!), but was up for elimination with Burgandy.

Burgandy was not allowed to participate in the final challenge by the ranch doctor. She was diagnosed with a severe case of tendonitis in her left leg. This automatically put her up for elimination. It was harsh, but it’s part of the price of being that heavy (I guess).

In the end, by a vote of 4-1, Burgandy was eliminated from The Biggest Loser second tonight. She was the smallest competitor, so it would have likely gotten very tough for her to keep up in weigh ins.

In the update, Sophia is down to 225lbs and Burgandy is down to 180lbs. Both ladies look great and seem to have new attitudes about life.

There is another twist next week as five original competitors show up at The Biggest Loser ranch. Likely they will compete to see who gets to stay, or they may just become part of the show automatically. We have to wait and see!

Were you happy with the results of The Biggest Loser tonight? I think I have to get behind Ada and Frado, they seem the most serious. Who are you rooting for at this point?
