AGT 2010: Second Week of Quarter Finals Live

Tonight was a tough night for America's Got Talent. It started slowly, lagged in the middle and there was little or no bang at the end. There were a few talented acts, but Piers Morgan used his 'X' button nearly as much as during auditions. NBC must be really cutting budgets this year to need to fill up this many weeks with AGT acts.

At least we did not have to wait long for Alice Tan Ridley. The mother of Academy Award nominated actress Gabourey Sidibe ("Precious"), took the stage looking absolutely stunning. She sang "Midnight Train to Georgia" with the feeling of Gladys Knight and all three Pips, earning herself a standing ovation from all three judges. Ridley has been singing in the subways to earn money to support her family, and now says it's time to come out "into the sunlight". Welcome to the warmth Alice.

Finish article now or read on for full AGT judges comments and quotes.

AGT 2010 Quarter Finals Act 1: Cheer SF
A multi-age cheer group doing exactly what you would expect. Not much new here.
Piers Morgan: "... it was all a bit sophamoric"

Sharon Osbourne: "...I loved your enthusiasm... I thought it should be more sophisticated..."

Howie Mandel: "... it wasn't as technically amazing as some [of the other acts]... I like the fact that you have all ages..."

AGT 2010 Quarter Finals Act 2: Alice Tan Ridley
Singer, performed "Midnight Train to Georgia"

Piers Morgan: "I have a feeling about you... I think  you are everything we are looking for..."

Sharon Osbourne: "...remember how proud you were of your daughter as she stood on that red carpet, I think she is just as proud of you tonight...

Howie Mandel: "...you look gorgeous... you sound amazing..."

AGT 2010 Quarter Finals Act 3: Mona Sampath Dance Company
This is a large Bollywood dance group. They combine Bollywood with hip hop and other dance genres.

Piers Morgan: "... I would relax because what Howie knows about Bollywood is not much...it was miles better than the auditions."

Sharon Osbourne: "...very exciting to watch...I'd like to see more traditional dance next time..."

Howie Mandel: "...I don't think this routine was as good as earlier... it was like a dance recital..."

AGT 2010 Quarter Finals Act 4: Iron Horse
Country band with a few tricks up their sleeves. The trouble is, the songs get in the way of the tricks and vice versa.

Piers Morgan: used his 'X' button

Sharon Osbourne: "... there were too many tricks..."

Howie Mandel: "... you have to make a decision on tricks or music... they get in the way of each other..."

AGT 2010 Quarter Finals Act 5: The Strong Man
He is what he says he is, a strong man. The Strong Man (or is it Strongman) lifted a motorcycle over his head, then rolled a car completely over. Tadahhhhh!

Piers Morgan:used his "X" "I'm not sure how amazing that was they [roll cars] every night in south central LA... you are dull, you are a very nice guy with the personality of a lobotomized ameaba."

Sharon Osbourne: "...I didn't know what you were going to do with that car... have you tried eating metal?"

Howie Mandel: "... you are so strong..."

AGT 2010 Quarter Finals Act 6: Ronith
Um, comedian? Actor? Impressionist? Nope, none of those things. I have no idea why this man is getting attention.

Piers Morgan: used his 'X' "...I've now seen you do 30 impressions... you're just bad..."

Sharon Osbourne: "...What was the second one you did? I thought it was a monkey!"

Howie Mandel: "...Wow, you wowed me!... Piers doesn't understand, bad is good right?" Howie then tried to convince us that this was all part of Ronith's great plan. Ronith had no idea what he was talking about. Airpolcalypse had more talent.

AGT 2010 Quarter Finals Act 7: Hannibal Means
Opera singer, in full clown costume. Tonight he performed "Circle of Life".

Piers Morgan: "...This show is getting crazier by the minute... underneath all the madness there is a brilliant singer..."

Sharon Osbourne: "... you have a great tone..."

Howie Mandel: "...you are a superbly talented man... what planet are you from?...kids, don't take drugs, just watch AGT!"

AGT 2010 Quarter Finals Act 8: Wreckless
Hip hop dance group from the streets, literally. They had a professional performance.

Piers Morgan: "...at this stage you have to be great... by the end of that performance, I completely and utterly agree with Sharon."

Sharon Osbourne: "...Considering we're talking about a dance group that couldn't afford a studio and practiced in the streets that was amazing..."

Howie Mandel: "... I didn't sense the edge you had in the earlier auditions..."

AGT 2010 Quarter Finals Act 9: Lil Chris
Young male vocalist, only 12 years old, Lil Chris may have hit the big stage a little early. His AGT live debut was not good.

Piers Morgan: "...I actually agree with Howie... I worry this has come too soon for you..."

Sharon Osbourne: "...For 12 years of age you held your own..."

Howie Mandel: "...you're a little raw but you do have talent..."

AGT 2010 Quarter Finals Act 10: Ascendance
Rock wall climbing combined with dance... amazing to watch. On a grand scale it will only be better. The couple added another couple for tonight.

Piers Morgan: "...there's something about this that's really a beautiful thing to watch..."

Sharon Osbourne: "...It is so moving to watch... it's endless what you could do with this act in Vegas..."

Howie Mandel: "... you don't know how grateful we are to you... and for you to have two kids since last time and put them on the wall, amazing!"

AGT 2010 Quarter Finals Act 11: Antonio Restivo
Fire and magic... and tears, always with the tears. Antonio Restivo is the devilish looking magician with the big soft heart on AGT. This time he truly pandered to Sharon playing an Ozzie medley for background music.

Piers Morgan: "...that was your best performance so far..."

Sharon Osbourne: "That was hot!you used the time very well, the music was sensational..."

Howie Mandel: "...consumate Vegas..."

AGT 2010 Quarter Finals Act 12: Michael Grimm
The blues-y singer from Mississippi changed his entire look. Gone was the fedora and Levi's for, well, clean clothes. I liked the look of the old Michael Grimm, but his voice is great no matter what he wears.

Piers Morgan: "... I think we're going on a bit of a trip with you...I think you've got to connect more [with the audience]..."

Sharon Osbourne: "...you genuinely have that soul, but Piers is right... I want to see you connect more..."

Howie Mandel: "You clean up nice! ...you are my favorite singer for this whole season..."

Tomorrow night will be the results. My guess would be: Alice Tan Ridley, Ascendance, Michael Grimm and the 4th is a toss up. Fire dude Antonio Restivo will likely make the cut, the judges really like him.

Also appearing on AGT  tomorrow night will be Cirque du Solleil and Train. Who do you think will make the cut this week? Leave us a comment!
