Biggest Loser 10: Brendan and Mark Both Left Out of the Final Four

The Biggest Loser 10 cut it to the final four contestants tonight, and it was a bit of a surprise to me. On one hand I was very happy that my girl Ada made it to the final four. On the other, there is Elizabeth. The game finally caught up to alliance player Brendan tonight. Losing only five pounds in the weigh-in he fell below the red line and was immediately eliminated from the Biggest Loser 10. Another player would soon follow after a vote, here’s how the night played out.

Right off the bat the contestants met with Olympic gymnast Nastia Liukin for a fitness challenge. Subway kicked in a prize of $10,000 to the winning player as a bonus. It was a brutal circuit drill with the player finishing last in each event dropping out of the competition. The exercises were: elliptic trainer, run, rowing machine, jump rope, and Jacob’s ladder.

Elizabeth was the first to drop out after the first round. Who saw that coming? Mark was out after the run. Ada barely got beaten out in the rowing competition. Frado could not jump rope. It came down to Patrick and Brendan on the Jacob’s Ladder machines. The first one to climb 500ft would win $10,000. Brendan turned it on and won the cash from Subway. He said he would give $1000 to the warriors in pink for the fight against breast cancer.

Next we were subjected to speeches from each the final six on what they would do with the $250,000 if they won the Biggest Loser. It was hard to listen and believe any but Ada were sincere. What does it matter anyway? It’s their money, let them spend it the way they see fit.

Later they met with the trainers and each told of what they’d learned at the ranch and what they feared when they get home. Mark said he feared gaining back the weight. That’s a little scary. Ada fears that it still won’t be enough to please her parents. Jillian Michaels really worked with Ada again this week to make her realize that “...it’s not you, it’s them.”

The final challenge returned the contestants to their original weight. Contestants had to complete the original BL10 tasks (500 step ups + run 1 mile) with weights. As they completed intervals they would lose weight like they did at the ranch. The winner gets a one pound advantage at the weigh-in and a home gym from worth $25,000. Nice! The gym would be delivered in time for the contestant to work out at home for the finale too.

Ada looked like she was on a mission. She ran through her step ups like they were nothing, dropping weight faster than any of the guys. Only Brendan could see Ada’s back and he was not really close. Ada won this one in style! I think she needed the one pound advantage more than anyone else based on her small size.

The contestants were next subjected to a brutal (and final) last chance workout with Bob and Jillian before facing the scale at the ranch for the last time. You could tell who was serious and who was not, especially at this point in the game. There would be a yellow line and a red line at the weigh-in and two would leave.

The last Biggest Loser 10 weigh-in before the finals went like this:
Ada            185lbs    179lbs     -6lbs (-1lbs reward)    -79lbs
Elizabeth     196lbs    192lbs     -4lbs     -52lbs
Mark           299lbs    292lbs     -7lbs    -129lbs
Patrick        291lbs    279lbs    -12lbs    -121lbs
Frado          263lbs    248lbs    -15lbs    -119lbs
Brendan      265lbs    260lbs      -5lbs    -102lbs

Yep, that’s a big FIVE by Brendan’s name. He needed to lose more than five pounds to not fall below the red line. I thought that was a lock and Elizabeth would go home. Once again Brendan managed to save Elizabeth and went home in the process. The game will get you, Brendan.

Mark and Elizabeth fell below the yellow line and it was now up to Ada, Patrick and Frado as to who would join them in the final four of Biggest Loser 10. I was not surprised that Ada voted off Mark, though I don’t think she’s as close to Elizabeth as she acted. Patrick then voted for Mark and in an awkward moment tried to explain his decision. Patrick was very honest in saying it was due to competition, but honesty sucks when you are the one going home. It only makes you feel better.

In the update, Patrick looks great and is down to 248lbs at home. He has lost a total of 176lbs. Wow! He’s a contender for the at-home prize this season.

Brendan is down to 237lbs, and has lost a total of 125lbs. I have my doubts about Brendan keeping the weight off.

The final four for Biggest Loser 10 are: Ada, Frado, Patrick and Elizabeth. It’s not really fair that Elizabeth made it this far by being in an alliance, but I don’t think it will matter in the end. She will have bragging rights for making it that far. I’m in Ada’s corner to the end now. Who do you want to win the Biggest Loser 10 finale?
