The task was to produce a 90 second commercial for OnStar. Teams would be graded on creativity, originality and product messaging (branding).
The PM’s were John Rich and Marlee Matlin. The last time these two faced off against each other it was a record breaker for Celebrity Apprentice fund raising. Tonight was a set amount of $40,000 for the winner’s charity. John Rich was out to get Marlee after his last loss to her.
Meatloaf took on the task of creativity for Team ASAP, which was Marlee’s first mistake this season. He was scattered, to say the least. Even the commercial director looked confused. As for Marlee’s interpreter, well, trying to explain what’s coming out of Meatloaf in sign language was nearly too much. Marlee described Meatloaf as “a tornado on crack.”
All of the celebrities looked tired on this task. Team Backbone was struggling, now with only two members, and John Rich was feeling sick. Lil Jon picked up the slack and did all of the creativity work on the set with the camera crew. Rich struggled through coming up with a concept and script.
Star Jones was not doing any better on Team ASAP. With Meatloaf leading creativity Miss Star was asked to work without a script. That suggestion was not well received, and Star wasted a lot of time on camera trying to fumble through ad libs. She’s used to being well prepared and this really threw her.
Neither team gave a stellar performance for the OnStar executives, though they weren’t as bad as a couple weeks ago. There was a winner.
Even though Team ASAP had a more professional look to their video they had some major flaws. Their commercial followed a silly storyline that Meatloaf made up. He played a cop that asked the OnStar operator (Star Jones) where a particular donut shop was located. The OnStar execs did not like poking fun at any law enforcement since they work so closely with them.
Team Backbone had their share of issues on the project too. The execs though Lil Jon was too over the top with his acting. They also had a woman who appeared to be driving without her seatbelt on (though to be fair you could barely notice). In the end, they chose the commercial from Team Backbone though, evening up the score between Marlee Matlin and John Rich… at least in wins.
As Team ASAP sat in the boardroom with Donald Trump it seemed obvious that Meatloaf was going to be on the chopping block. He did the creative work and the execs did not like that part. Star was in charge of branding though, and she failed big time there. Ultimately that was the downfall of the commercial for them. Both ladies said Meatloaf should be fired. John Rich said they were “having a Meatloaf sandwich!”
Neither Star Jones nor Meatloaf were going down without a fight. Trump told all three to leave the room so he could talk to George and Don Jr. about who to fire. The fireworks started in the waiting area… oh to be Trump’s receptionist.
Meatloaf called Star Jones “sweetie” at one point while they argued about who was at fault in the loss. Star was not having that, and she tried to shut down the argument altogether. Meatloaf would not be shut down with a simple “case closed” from Star. The best part of this argument was watching Jack Jason, Marlee Matlin’s interpreter, trying to relay every word to her. He did a fantastic job too. She later clarified with perfect accuracy a part of the argument that both got wrong when explaining it to Trump. Jack totally deserves an Emmy award for his spot on Celebrity Apprentice.
Trump was on Star (pardon the pun) from the start of this boardroom though. He brought up the fact that she’d had trouble getting along with NeNe (to put it lightly) and now she was having trouble with Meatloaf. Star Jones looked like she could cry when Trump finally said those words, “Star, you’re fired!”
The Celebrity Apprentice final four are: Lil Jon, John Rich, Meatloaf and Marlee Matlin. Now who saw that motley crue going all the way?
So, what did you think of tonight’s double dose of Celebrity Apprentice? Did you think Trump fired the right people?
Here is the first half of the three hour event tonight:

Ironically Star claimed that Meatloaf diminished her and suggested that she was not up to debate him,by using a term of endearment. She then put him in his place by telling him that he did not have the credentials to argue with her. Not the first time Star has been caught being a hypocrite.
ReplyDeleteYes I totally agree! I thought it was hilarious that Star took such offense to Meatloaf calling her "sweetie," yet she then basically called him uneducated. She's a piece of work, lol.
ReplyDeleteStar's been tooting her own horn excessively this entire season. She's quite happy to take all the credit when her TEAM wins, but when they lose (even with her as Project Manager) there's no mention of her contribution to the loss. A good leader knows, you're not a leader until you lose and analyze why. She's clearly never had a good hard look at herself. NeNe saw what she is and vocalized it...which was awesome to watch.
ReplyDeleteI can understand why she left. Everyone else on her team was whittled down by Star 'playing the game' which I find a terrible justification. Piers Morgan was just smarter than everyone else. Brett Michaels got to the top never having screwed or played anyone God Bless Him. Feel sorry for Star's Charity to have her behavior associated with them. Come to think of it I can't even remember who she was playing for, she only seemed to mention herself in her cutaway interviews. I can tell you for everyone else though what their charity is.
Interesting season though...although all this pales in comparison to the rhino Amorosa (or however you spell it). Wonder what she's doing now lol.
