Law & Order the Original TV Series

The original Law & Order police procedural is one of my favorite TV shows of all time. You know it's good TV when a show runs for 20 years without fear of cancellation. The show was one of the first to incorporate a "ripped from the headlines" style into each show. They always seemed to get the justice we were sometimes left wanting for in real life.

The first half of each Law & Order episode began with a crime and police investigation. Then we saw the suspect(s) arrested and charged. The second half of the show takes place in the courtroom. It takes really good writing to keep an audience interested in a court drama. The acting was always above average as well.

The writing was so good, in fact, that the show survived several cast changes over the years. Every cast member was replaced either immediately or eventually over the years. Where some shows would have folded, this one only got better. There were several stars of the show over the years. Chris Noth, Jerry Orbach, Sam Waterston to name a few, but this is one show that survived on the backs of the writers.

It finally reached it's conclusion in 2010, but not before releasing two successful spin-offs: Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and Law & Order: Criminal Intent. In the finale the writers outdid themselves again by wrapping things up in a neat little package for us. It was a successful end to a 20 year television run for Law & Order.

Catch up on Law & Order from the beginning. Start with season one starring Michael Moriarty and his courtroom dramatics. You'll get hooked and be looking for season two before you know it! Don't worry, you can find all of them on Amazon at amazing prices. Check it out now!
