Find out if your favorite from this season of America's Got Talent made it through to the semifinals. Tonight was the last night of quarterfinal results!
Tonight was the last quarterfinal results show for America's Got Talent, sending four wildcard acts into the semifinals. Criss Angel performed his magic ... and Leann Rimes appeared on the stage (in an unrelated incident).
The judges' favorite acts were brought to the AGT stage to find out their fates in four groups, as usual. The first group called by Nick Cannon was: Kruti Dance Academy, Michael Grasso, Swingshift Side Show and Rudi Macaggi. I felt bad for Rudi Macaggi, but Michael Grasso was the clear winner of this group. After the obligatory camera pan, Nick Cannon pronounced him the newest semifinalist.
Criss Angel did an impressive act; escaping from a straightjacket while hanging upside down by the ankles... in under a minute. Howie Mandel and Piers Morgan provided comic relief as they strapped Angel into the jacket, with Piers giving him particularly hard yanks. "Did I do something to you earlier?" Criss Angel asked Morgan with a grin.
Back to the eliminations. Nick Cannon called out the second group: RNG, Hot Shot Tap Dancers and Anna & Patryk. After the performances last night, the choice was clear in this dance group. Anna & Patryk, were miles above the other two acts last night. They were the second pair sent into the semifinals.
CJ Dippa and Connor Doran took the AGT stage next. You will not see two boys so very different up against each other in any other talent competition. CJ Dippa seemed to look quite humbled after last night's weak performance. Connor Doran just looked nervous... very nervous. I was so happy when Nick Cannon finally called Connor's name. I love his music choice and the zen-like movement of his kites. I hope he can make it a bigger performance for the semifinals.
Time for a song break from Leann Rimes, apparently back on the music track. She looked... healthy. She, of course, sounded wonderful.
Out came the last group of AGT 2010 quarterfinal hopefuls: Doogie Horner, Michael Lipari & Ashleigh Dijon, and Harmonica Pierre. I knew how the judges' votes would come down long before Doogie Horner was eliminated as the low vote-getter. Sure enough, Piers Morgan stood by his favorite Harmonica Pierre. Sharon Osbourne and Howie Mandel went with the aerial act of Michael Lipari and Ashleigh Dijon. This was definitely the right choice for Vegas.
Here are your 24 semifinalists for AGT 2010: Fighting Gravity, Future Funk, Christina & Ali, Nate Kenyon, Michael Grimm, Alice Tan Ridley, Ascendance, Antonio Restivo, Haspop, Studio One Young Beast Society, Debra Romer, Jeremy Vanschoonhoven, ArcAttack, Prince Poppycock, Taylor Matthews, Murray, Jackie Evancho, Dan Sperry, Maestro Alexander Bui, Kristina Young, Michael Grasso, Anna & Patryk, Connor Doran, and Michael Lipari & Ashleigh Dejon.
My favorite at this point is Jackie Evancho, the young opera singer. I don't know how she will be beaten this season. It will all come down to a matter of taste, as it always does on America's Got Talent.
So who is your favorite AGT 2010 contestant?
