Biggest Loser 11: Off to New Zealand and Moses Goes Home

Sky Tower on a fine night lit up by blue light...Bob Harper & Jillian Michaels jump off the Sky Tower on BL11 tonight! Image via Wikipedia
The remaining Biggest Loser contestants were in for thrills tonight as they were surprised by a two week trip to Auckland, New Zealand. Austin earned a first class ticket and the rest few in regular class, but hey, they got to go to New Zealand! There were still challenges and workouts and the dreaded weigh-in. The blue team lost and Moses fell on his sword for Olivia to stay. Moses was eliminated from BL 11 while they were still in Auckland, where his father lives.

Austin won his first class ticket by guessing closest to a correct trivia question at the start of the flight. “How tall is the sky Tower in Auckland?” It’s 1076ft tall for those who need to know.

Right off the plane it seemed the contestants were put to the test. We saw the first challenge was to climb the stairs to the top of the Sky Tower, all 1027 of them. When they got to the top they were greeted by Jillian Michaels hanging precariously out over nothingness then she free fell to the ground . More than a couple of the BL11 players looked sick and chose to walk back down.

We did not see Cara take the plunge off the building, but Bob Harper could see Ken struggling with facing his fear of heights. Assuming Ken would say no, Bob told him he would jump if Ken would. Ken surprised Bob by agreeing. It was obvious Bob was not all that  happy about Ken facing his fears. Jillian stood on the ground amazed that Bob was going to do this telling us he really is scared to death of heights. He did it though…. Followed ever so slowly by a sick looking Ken. I give them both tons of credit, I would have been a mess.

Later Bob loaned Moses his cell phone so he could call his father who lives in Auckland, New Zealand. Just to say hi while he was in town. Then it was back to work.

The BL11 contestants were in for some intense workouts. At the first, Ken approached Cara about the green team’s close call at the weigh-in last week. I guess he found  all kinds of courage jumping off of that building. Cara, the boxer, stood right up to Ken and was obviously offended when he said, “Those two individuals,” pointing at Bob and Jillian with their group, “have the most experience..” and that they know how to get results. Cara was pissed. She worked Ken hard while Jillian grabbed Kaylee and Austin for their workouts.

I don’t like the trainer competition this season. It appeared that the other trainers didn’t know they’d have to leave like Brett last week. Cara acted like her job depended on scale results this week, and in a way it should, but weight loss doesn’t always work like that. It’s just a little weird to hear a trainer nearly begging to be on the show.

Next up for the BL11 contestants was an Auckland 5K. It’s not your average 5K. They ran down hill, then up hill, then down hill, then up hill, then through water then almost straight up a steep sand dune. It looked grueling. The winning team got a helicopter ride tour over New Zealand. The blue team won. Olivia and Irene gave up their places on the helicopter so Moses and his daughter Kaylee, on the green team, could go together.

When the weigh-in finally came, all were nervous. A lot of things had changed this week and even with all the exercise your body knows it’s out of its routine.

The black team was up first. Rulon lost seven pounds, Hannah lost four pounds… Jay came in with +2lbs, ouch. He were still safe from elimination this week, but it went down to the wire.

Blue was up next and Olivia and Irene lost a total of five pounds. Moses did not lose any. Ouch again, but at least he did not gain any.

The green team were up and Cara had something to prove. Ken did well after his individual workouts with Cara and gave her credit for his six pound loss. Austin did even better with an eight pound loss, and he was trained by Bob and Jillian  most of the time (it looked like). Then there is Kaylee…this week she came in with a +4lbs at the weigh-in. Lucky for her (or maybe not) the men lost enough to keep the green team safe from elimination.

The blue team had the lowest weight loss this week on BL11, and so one was headed home. After a tearful plea from Olivia about wanting to get healthy enough to have children, Moses told the rest to vote him out. He’s a good guy and wanted to see her get her wish.

Kaylee could not, of course, vote for her dad. All the rest respected Moses wishes though and he was eliminated by a vote of 4-1. Moses started the Biggest Loser at 440lbs. At home he was down to 273lbs for a total weight loss so far of 167lbs. Way to go Moses! He also went back to Auckland New Zealand to visit his dad… and he bungee jumped off a bridge. He was not allowed to jump off the building the first time due to his health.

Next week the BL11 contestants are still in Auckland and they too will be jumping off the bridge. We also see the return of Brett! I knew it was a hoax. Maybe Cara will calm down now, or maybe she should stay hyped. They better do something about Kaylee.
