The Voice: Blind Auditions Week 2 and Teams are Set

It may be because the expectations were set so high last week on the premier of The Voice, but tonight was a tiny bit of a let down for me. It still is a show full of talent, and there will be no Sanjaya’s, but there were fewer stellar performances.

Remember the premise of the show is that the four coaches (Adam Levine, Cee Lo Green, Blake Shelton and Christina Aguilera) choose eight singers each to have on their “team.” They were about halfway through last week and finished tonight. At least there’s no stretching it out for months.



The picks tonight include: Cherie Oakley (Christina), Devon Barley (Adam), Raquel Castro (Christina), Emily Valentine (Cee Lo), Nikki Dawson (Cee Lo), Sara Oromchi (Blake), and Tim Mahoney (Adam).

When Adam turned his chair for Tim Mahoney it got a little awkward as he told him, "I thought you were a chick... clearly you are not a woman and I need one for my team and sadly you have a penis..." Blake Shelton promised not to talk about his genitalia.

After all the auditions were through, there were still four spots left. Two on Adam Levine’s team and one each on Christina and Blake Shelton’s teams. The coaches called back eight of the finalist for another blind audition. Christina picked Lily Elise. Blake picked up Jared Blake. Adam Levine finally chose his two: Casey Weston and Angela Wolff.

Things heat up quickly on The Voice. Next week each coach has to cut their team by half. It’s called the Battle Round. The other coaches will have a say, which should be fun. These four give great banter. The final 16 on The Voice will go on to the live shows and eventually vie for the votes of America.
