American Idol - Top 7 Sing Mariah Carey Songs

The Top 7 AI Contestants Get Mentored By Mariah Carey 4/15

Tonight the Top 7 American Idol contestants sing Mariah Carey songs. This will definitely prove to be a tough night for the guys.

David Archuleta should be fine, we know that he can sing anything with feeling. Mariah Carey tunes are all about drama.

David Cook should be able to pull something off, has anyone check YouTube for Mariah Carey covers lately. David needs to find a good sound tonight and be humble about it.

Jason Castro can hopefully find something to 'unplug'. I really want to like Jason C., I just don't see him headlining for a 2 hour concert.

Carly Smithson should be able to easily belt out one of Mariah's pop hits. Pick any of them. Carly just needs to adjust the wardrobe, the song, and the performance all in one night.

Kristy Lee Cook needs to go home. Sorry. I think Brook White and Syesha Mercado should follow in that order. I don't think that will happen.

Syesha should be able to find a great song tonight. She will need one, too. The judges appear to be tired of the same weaknesses show after show. As well they should, it is fun to see someone progress and develop star power. Sadly, I don't think that Brooke W., Kristy L.C., or Syesha have 'it'.

American Idol: David Archuleta Performs "Angels"

David Archuleta Sings like an Angel

By Christine Cameron, published Apr 08, 2008

David Archuleta proved again why he is one of the top contenders for American Idol this season. The 17-year-old Idol contestant sat alone at the grand piano for the entire performance. I was glad that David A. stayed seated for the entire song, sometime the performance gets away from him when he works the stage.

American Idol - Chikezie Goes Home

FOX Wednesday 9/8c 3/26/08

American Idol is now down to nine, with Chikezie the most recently discarded contestant. Chikezie had two distinct problems every week; his wardrobe, and his song choice.

While he did a nice job for a couple of weeks in a row, Chikezie ultimately fell back to the ballads that he apparently loves. This never worked well for him, and thus led to his demise this week on the American Idol Elimination show.

Rounding out the bottom three tonight was Syesha Mercado and Jason Castro. Jason said he was "freaked out all day" because he knew he was going to be in the bottom three after his haphazard performance of Sting's "Fragile" last night. Simon warned Jason on last nights Idol that he had better start taking his performances more seriously. This should be his wake up call.

I think Ramiele Malubay was much weaker last night than Syesha, but fan base is what counts. Syesha needs to pick better songs, or she may be next to exit American Idol.

Archuleta Redeems Himself

By Nicole Burdett, published Mar 19, 2008

This past week on American Idol, the geniuses that pick the themes for the week chose the Beatles. A bit repetitive since the contestants sang songs by John Lennon and Paul McCartney the week before.

I beat up on David Archuleta's performance of "We Can Work It Out"...
