This season of the CBS hit The Amazing Race is getting down to the wire. With only 4 teams left in the race it's becoming another battle of wills. Who wants it more this time? The final 4 teams of The Amazing Race are: Lakisha & Jennifer, Victor & Tammy, Margie & Luke, and Cara & Jaime. That is the order the teams started in tonight.
The only constant in The Amazing Race is that everything changes by the end of the hour...everything. The teams had to endure the cultures of China tonight, including a foot massage and a swim in the Olympic pool. Sounds fun... nope!
In the fashion of every Race Roadblock, tonight's turned out to be harder (read more painful) than they looked.
First a 'cleansing' foot massage. I felt sorry for Luke on this one. He volunteered eagerly (almost demanded) and could not hear the screams and moans of anguish the ladies before him were enduring. See, the key to this foot massage is to push ones thumb up through the center of the receivers foot with all of your strength. The tiny ladies administering these sadistic looking 'massages' looked like they were enjoying it way too much.
After everyone survived the first Race Roadblock, it was on to the Olympic site. The Amazing Race final 4 hit the detour (where 2 tasks are available and they must choose and complete one). This week's was all about swimming and Michael Phelps, or diving like the Chinese.
Only Victor and Tammy chose to dive. Both divers had to jump off a spring board and hit the water at exactly the same time, and receive a score of 5 from both judges. It turned out to be a bad choice for Victor and Tammy. They eventually gave up and went to the other task, but not before dropping to a far 3rd.
The other teams all chose to swim like Michael Phelps...well, not quite. Each Racer had to swim the length of the Olympic pool twice. It was not pretty. Jennifer had a major meltdown, as a non-swimmer. Her sister Lakisha stayed with her and talked her through it, assuming they were out of the Amazing Race. "Finish strong" became their montra.
When the last place starting team of Jaime & Cara showed up at what they thought was their first 1st place pit stop Phil Keoghan told them it was just the first leg and gave them another clue. Wow, bummer for them!
Margie & Luke are hot on the heals of Jaime & Cara. Victor & Tammy are in 3rd with a larger gap. Lakisha & Jennifer do not know they are still in it yet, let's hope they do finish the 'leg' strong.
Next week we'll see the end of this double leg of The Amazing Race, and find out who is in the final 3. And who is Racing for $1,000,000.00!
