The much anticipated new season of The Amazing Race kicked off tonight. The race around the world started in LA tonight... on public transportation. The eleven teams of TAR were baffled as soon as that mode of transport was mentioned.
I'm watching not only because I like The Amazing Race, but because of Jeff & Jordan of Big Brother fame. Jordan Lloyd won a million dollars on Big Brother and Jeff Schroeder won America's Favorite worth $25,000 the same season. They were the show-mance of the season, and now they are taking on TAR 16 (and doing great so far).
After all the public transportation was sorted out in the beginning, Jeff & Jordan were in the first three teams to get on the first flight leaving LA. The first three teams got an hour of lead time. Except when flights get delayed.
Off to the first pit stop: Cable Walking....
As with most events on TAR, I could not do cable walking to save my life (let alone win a race). The would have to call a spatula to main street if it were me trying to get myself a cable suspended above a town. The townspeople do it for fun, okayyyy.
A few of the teams struggled with the road block, but most made it through. Dana & Adrian did not however. Almost as quickly as their race began, it was over. Though I'm sure it seemed like months up on that wire, the big guy could just not make it across. He tried repeatedly, but it was not going to happen. Phil Keoghan came out to the cable to tell them that all the other teams had made it to the check point so they were eliminated.
On a brighter note, Jeff & Jordan won the leg. Yay! The prize was a trip to Vancouver.... hmmm, wonder where they are tonight! Lucky ducks probably watching the Olympics in person. Good for them!
Here are the finish placements tonight:
1. Jeff & Jordan
2. Monique & Shawne
3. Jet & Cord
4. Steve & Allison
5. Joe & Heidi
6. Carol & Brandy
7. Brent & Caite
8. Dan & Jordan
9. Louie & Michael
10. Jody & Shannon
Eliminated: Dana & Adrian
That's it for the opener of The Amazing Race 16. Watch on Sunday nights on CBS at 8EST/7CST.
Who are you pulling for in the race?
Jeff and Jordan!
