After a week away, I’m back to tell you what’s on TV tonight. Did you miss me? Anyway, I thought Sunday would be the appropriate day to make my blogging return. I love the Sunday prime time lineup on network TV. A little something for everyone.

Now, here’s what’s on network TV tonight:

ABC
8/7c: 2010 American Music Awards

8/7c: Amazing Race 17 - new episode
Racers continue in Bangladesh tonight. The twist thrown into this leg of the race is a double U-turn, two teams will be forced to stop and complete an extra task.

The Amazing Race 17: Nick & Vicky Get Saved

Amazing Race Detour clue.Image via Wikipedia
The 6th leg of the Amazing Race 17 was not as easy as the rest of the legs have proven to be. The Detour was the toughest part of the leg, and nearly drove two teams out of the race. In the end it was Nick & Vicky that came in last place. Phil revealed the 6th leg was a non-elimination leg after telling Team Tattoo that they came in last place.

Nat & Kat kicked off the leg in first place, and headed off to the train station that would take them to St. Petersburg, Russia. They quickly became aware that it would be a tight leg when all teams would ride the same train for several hours to get to Russia.

Brook & Claire wound up bonding with Nat & Kat during the train ride. As the teams shared a cabin for the long ride, they took turns smelling each others shoes and socks. Boy, did that look like fun... NOT! It was funny to watch though.

The Amazing Race 17: Remember Those Volleyball Ladies...?

Tonight was the 5th leg of The Amazing Race 17, and it was a little boring. Hard to believe the race could be boring, but this season has not seemed as rigorous as past ones. Little changed in the final line up tonight. The volleyball players, Katie & Rachel, started in last and ended in last. Katie & Rachel (who?) were eliminated in the 5th leg of The Amazing Race 17.

Here is how the 5th leg played out.

Teams left Sweden for Narvik, Norway and the mountains. Nat & Kat left first and thought they were in trouble right away (with Nat’s fear of heights looming).

The first roadblock had a Fast Forward available to the first team able to complete it. Kat & Nat went for it. It was a gross eating challenge (a goat head), and Nat is a vegetarian).

The Amazing Race Week 2: Jenna and Andie Get Lost

The Amazing Race: The First SeasonThe Amazing Race seemed to move very fast this week. By that I mean there were no tough tasks to complete. In fact, the hardest part of the night appeared to be surviving the cab ride through the streets of Accra, Ghana. Sadly birth mom and daughter team Jenna and Andie did get a little lost and wound up in last place. The heard the dreaded words from Phil, “...you are the last team to arrive. You have been eliminated from The Amazing Race.”

The only grueling part of the race tonight was listening to Brook screech at her teammate Claire... constantly. Claire had a great line to start the night, “...as long as there aren’t any watermelons on this leg, we should be alright.” The show started with the clip of her getting the watermelon in the face.

The Amazing Race Season 17 Premiere: Tony and Ron Lost Their Way

Phil KeoghanImage via Wikipedia
Tonight was the much anticipated starting leg of The Amazing Race, now in it’s 17th season. One thing this reality show guarantees is that there will be action, constantly. Oh, and every once in a while there is a close to severe injury (no one has been seriously injured though). Tonight we saw what happens when melons take their revenge!

It started off like any other Amazing Race. Phil Keoghan met with all the teams at the starting line, tonight’s was Glouchester, MA. There are eight pit stops that are elimination legs. There is also a new twist... the Express Pass. The winners of this first leg, win a free pass before or during any challenge they choose during the course of the race. This will definitely affect the race. When played, the team will be allowed to skip the challenge and head to the pit stop.

TAR 16 5th Leg: Louie & Michael Send Steve & Heidi Home

In what seemed like a short and easy leg of The Amazing Race, detectives Louie & Michael keep their lead for first place. They have a shot at winning if there are no speed contests in their future, Louie is sadly out of shape.

The 5th leg of TAR 16 started with a bus ride to an 'unknown destination' during the pit stop. It turned out to be France. As the racers got started they had to first find a certain bakery in a nearby town and break the bread open to find their next clue. There was no mention of breaking the bread to find the clue, so only the hungry found it fast.

Steve & Heidi were seen nursing Steve's injured knee during the bus ride, but were still farting rainbows. "I don't think this will slow us down at all," said Steve. Michael & Louie took note of the cocky remark.

Jet & Cord Win the Second Leg of TAR: "Don't let the cowboy hats fool ya!"

Jet and Cord, the cowboys on The Amazing Race, fooled them all this week by simply staying quiet. They outfoxed Jeff & Jordan after finding out they were at the wrong bus terminal to meet their connection for a huge lead. Jet & Cord found out while trying to get tickets on the same connecting bus.

This week was a race through Chile that involved llamas and cow milking, go figure. Not a very challenging race leg for TAR, unless you don't know enough to not stand behind an animal (an animal). Never seen so many city slickers getting kicked. No wonder the cowboys pulled into a huge lead.

Speaking of getting kicked.... Jody, the oldest competitor on TAR with her granddaughter, took a tough blow to the head from an impatient cow.

The Amazing Race 16 Kicks Off: Jeff & Jordan win the first leg

The much anticipated new season of The Amazing Race kicked off tonight. The race around the world started in LA tonight... on public transportation. The eleven teams of TAR were baffled as soon as that mode of transport was mentioned.

I'm watching not only because I like The Amazing Race, but because of Jeff & Jordan of Big Brother fame. Jordan Lloyd won a million dollars on Big Brother and Jeff Schroeder won America's Favorite worth $25,000 the same season. They were the show-mance of the season, and now they are taking on TAR 16 (and doing great so far).

After all the public transportation was sorted out in the beginning, Jeff & Jordan were in the first three teams to get on the first flight leaving LA. The first three teams got an hour of lead time. Except when flights get delayed.

Off to the first pit stop: Cable Walking....
As with most events on TAR, I could not do cable walking to save my life (let alone win a race). The would have to call a spatula to main street if it were me trying to get myself a cable suspended above a town. The townspeople do it for fun, okayyyy.
