The Apprentice: Anand is a cheater and Poppy gets fired too

The drama was mostly in the beginning of The Apprentice episode tonight, as Donald Trump called all the candidates back to the boardroom. He immediately called out Anand, asking if he’d been texting during the competition. Anand stuttered slightly and finally said “no”. You didn’t have to be Judge Judy to see he was lying. This was going to get ugly.

Donald Trump asked Anand, repeatedly, “Do you want me to read you a text?” in a progressively more annoyed tone. Anand said yes for some reason. Trump then read a text to an unknown party (who must have given the info to Trump) that asked them to come down when Anand was the project manager and bring money for a task.
Trump:  “Pretty bad, huh?”
Anand: “Nobody came Mr. Trump.”
Trump: “I don’t care if nobody came...it’s because they don’t respect you that nobody came... This is why the country has gotten into so much trouble... this is the kind of thinking on Wall Street... Anand you’re fired.”
He did not even get a cab ride. The last we see of Anand, he is walking out the door and down the street.

Clint apologized repeatedly to Mr. Trump and to the ladies’ team and both he and Steuart assured them they had no knowledge of Anand cheating.

On to the task, Kim Kardashian is launching a new perfume line and teams were to come up with an in-store display. Liza was placed on team Fortitude to replace Anand. The look on both Stephanie and Liza’s faces said it all. I could hear the bus pulling up for Liza already.

So now the teams were:
Fortitude - Poppy (PM), Stephanie, Liza
Octane - Clint (PM), Brandy, Steuart

Stephanie and Poppy bonded and cackled together throughout the task, doing most of the creative themselves. Liza did not like their gaudy ideas for bedazzling the display and wearing boas, but again she did not voice her opinions loudly enough. Not that she really could have though.

Clint was putting pressure on Brandy for a feminine touch on the display. Brandy was not very helpful. Clint pointed out that this was the same girl that posed nearly nekkid last week in an ad for a Trump clothing line. To be fair, it was not a purely feminine ad last week, it was to promote men’s clothing.

Steuart and Clint came through on the construction side of their display and really created something special. It was fit for an upscale store front display. Kim Kardashian and the judges loved it.

The ladies’ display... not so much. It looked really cheap and crafty instead of classy. They did like the idea of having a cut out of Kim Kardashian that people could take a picture with, but not that much. It just looked really cheap, a word used continually to describe the ladies’ display.

At one point in the Kim Kardashian cameo on The Apprentice she was referred to as “a Hollywood icon”... I’m not sure who said it or what happened immediately afterward as I was choking on a drink. I blacked out for several moments and was awakened to the boardroom. Nearly “death by Kardashian”.

Clint’s team was quickly pronounced the winner in The Apprentice boardroom. The judges called their display “sophisticated and understated”. Off went team Octane to relax in the suite.

Poppy, Liza and Stephanie were set to face off for their jobs on The Apprentice. I could hear the bus coming ever closer for Liza. Poppy had already said that she was proud of both of her teammates and that they’d both done a great job. That was going to be hard to take back.

Stephanie attempted to attack Liza again. Donald Trump asked her why she does that repeatedly in the boardroom and Stephanie said it was nothing personal. Stephanie then took credit for the photo op part of the task (the only part the judges liked of Octane’s). Liza spoke up to say the photo was Poppy’s idea. Poppy sat relatively silent while they argued.

Donald Trump told Poppy she would have to speak up or she’d be fired. Poppy attempted to place blame elsewhere, namely on Stephanie for backing her on the design. Ivanka told her to take responsibility and say how you would improve in the future.

Poppy is not cut throat enough to play with these folks, and I don’t think Liza is far behind. Trump gave her The Apprentice final words, “Poppy, you’re fired.” It was only right.

In an update Poppy said she is doing many things now and that she got a job... doing muscle stem cell research. Wow, did not see that coming! Way to go Poppy!

  1. it was funny that Anand tired to lie. I want to know how the hell Donald Trump got his texts? Were they only allowed to use phones given to them or did he somehow get into his personal phone? I don't think he would have been stupid enough to do it on a phone given to him. Also, they would have picked up on it a lot quicker.

  2. Knowing indians, it must have been his own friend that complained to the organizers.

  3. My guess is that he lied about his friends coming, I mean he lied once, his credit was out the window.
To make things right, Trump should have brought Kelly back.

  4. You may be right Mike, Anand may have lied about his friend coming down. I do think Trump was alerted by the friend though, or another acquaintance of Anand's. It would have been fair to bring back whomever was eliminated the week Anand cheated, but it may have such a landslide victory that it would not have mattered.
    Thanks for the comment!

  6. I dont believe it was fair to fire Anand. It was spur of moment stupid mistake. It wasnt a grave mistake. He is smart, efficient and very serious about his every task. Every successful person's main goal is always to get their task done and exceed what is expected of them. Trump himself is no exception either. It was sad to see him go. Maybe apprentice bird-brained Lisas and screaming classless Stephanie I guess. Nicole and Anand are too far .

  7. Hey anonymous,Anand's actions and then his blatant denial of them are serious character flaws. The ends justify the means--no matter what? I am sure this is not his first, nor will it be his last, questionable judgement moment. His is intelligent and serious about every task, however he is also unethical and unscrupulous. Those are dangerous qualities to have in an employee. Sooner or later they will get you sued. Maybe that is why he got terminated. If he was really so smart, he wouldn't need to resort to cheating to get ahead.
