The Apprentice: Clint You’re Fired, Brandy Wins

Ivanka Trump in June 2009."I'd love to work with Ivanka,"~Brandy on The ApprenticeImage via Wikipedia
What appeared to be a done deal turned out to be a trick of editing for the finale of The Apprentice 2010. Many bets were down on good ol’ boy Clint, after flashing his pedigree in the last boardroom. Brandy managed to match Clint in wordplay in the boardroom and presented herself as every bit as qualified. Donald Trump has stated numerous times how much he admires Brandy. Tonight he proved it by firing Clint and hiring Brandy as the winner of The Apprentice.

We joined the final two candidates tonight halfway through their final task. Brandy was putting on a golf tournament, Clint was presenting a dinner/concert/award ceremony afterward.

When last we saw them, Mahsa was freaking out about the promo material being incorrect. At least they found it early. The problem was the budget. There was not enough money left to reprint it all. Clint came in and calmly made a call, working things out quickly.

The Apprentice 2010: Clint Vs. Brandy (or the Return of Anand)

Liza Minnelli judges a pet contest in the West...Liza Minnelli's concert featured on The Apprentice finaleImage via Wikipedia
Tonight was part one of the finale for The Apprentice recession season. The first order of business was to cut the final three candidates to two. Donald Trump made it fairly quick and very nice (as he usually is at this point in the game) as he did the obvious; fired Liza. Clint and Brandy now face each other in a final major task to win The Apprentice and a job with Donald Trump.

Though I think Donald Trump was going to pick Brandy and Clint anyway, the ladies could not stop the snarkiness of the season to back each other. Trump asked each person who they thought was the better candidate and both chose Clint. Hard to argue with that.

The tasks:
Gala dinner for 500 followed by a Liza Minnelli concert
Golf Tournament for 500 hosted by Kathy Griffin prior to the dinner

The Apprentice: Steuart Is the First One Fired in the Final Four

QVC LogoImage via Wikipedia
Brandy, Clint, Liza and Steuart faced off in the final four of The Apprentice for a spot in the final two of the season. Donald Trump restored the teams back to men vs. women for the final task, and Liza and Clint stepped up to lead. After a tough QVC selling task, the men lost and had to face each other in the boardroom. Clint’s education and business savvy won Trump over and Steuart was the first fired from the final four.. The final three were called back into the boardroom for Trump to fire another... first thing next week we find out who the final two will be for The Apprentice 2010.

Here is the play-by-play for the night’s events:

After the teams were restored to men (Octane) vs. women (Fortitude), Clint stepped up quickly to claim the PM spot. Liza wasted no time raising her hand for PM as well. The men looked extremely confident, Steuart was nearly cocky. The women looked a little overwhelmed and Brandy seemed happy to let Liza fail.

The Apprentice: Stephanie Gets Canned (Liza slips into the final 4)

The Apprentice - The Complete First SeasonTonight The Apprentice started with a recap of last week’s excitement. This time that statement was really true. The recap of Anand getting busted for cheating will make Trump’s greatest worst moments film archive. Then we saw Clint, at his meeting after winning the task, with Barry Sternlicht a real estate developer and founder of Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide. Clint also won a $5000 Peir One Imports gift card. Nice!

The Apprentice final five are: Clint, Steuart, Brandy, Stephanie and Liza. I think at least two could go home at the beginning of this episode and it would just speed up the process. Stephanie talks a big game, but no one wants to work with her. Liza has show little or no initiative on any task and is the only one left that did not win as a PM.

The Apprentice: Anand is a cheater and Poppy gets fired too

Kim Kardashian attending Maxim's 10th Annual H...Kim KardashianImage via Wikipedia
The drama was mostly in the beginning of The Apprentice episode tonight, as Donald Trump called all the candidates back to the boardroom. He immediately called out Anand, asking if he’d been texting during the competition. Anand stuttered slightly and finally said “no”. You didn’t have to be Judge Judy to see he was lying. This was going to get ugly.

Donald Trump asked Anand, repeatedly, “Do you want me to read you a text?” in a progressively more annoyed tone. Anand said yes for some reason. Trump then read a text to an unknown party (who must have given the info to Trump) that asked them to come down when Anand was the project manager and bring money for a task.
Trump:  “Pretty bad, huh?”
Anand: “Nobody came Mr. Trump.”
Trump: “I don’t care if nobody came...it’s because they don’t respect you that nobody came... This is why the country has gotten into so much trouble... this is the kind of thinking on Wall Street... Anand you’re fired.”
He did not even get a cab ride. The last we see of Anand, he is walking out the door and down the street.

What’s on Network TV Tonight? (11/11/10)

I’m still reeling a little from last night’s great TV lineup, so forgive me for being a little behind. Tonight brings another good prime time schedule, including a bombshell on The Apprentice. I’m looking forward to it with a fair amount of dread. More on that later.

The Apprentice: The End of Crazy David

Donald Trump at a press conference announcing ...Donald TrumpImage via Wikipedia
Not all the drama left The Apprentice last week with Mahsa. Not by a long shot. Tonight started with a fight between Anand and Stephanie after last week’s boardroom, and ended with Dave being asked by Trump if he was gay. Unrelated to that, David was later fired mercifully fast.

After last week’s boardroom, Stephanie and Anand argued over whether or not Stephanie had also lied to Donald Trump. Stephanie went on to pretty much cuss Anand out. His reply was to call her “classless”. She confirmed it by cussing him out more.

It was time to split the teams up. New teams are now:
Fortitude: David, Poppy, Anand and Stephanie (like Trump was a fly on the wall!)
Octane: Clint, Brandy, Liza and Steuart

The Apprentice 2010: Mahsa gets muzzled in the boardroom

The Apprentice - The Complete First SeasonTonight the task for The Apprentice candidates was to sell a Broadway musical. More specifically, produce and create a 15 minute backer audition for three judges. Seemed to smoothly for both teams, but the boardroom was ugly as ever. Mahsa and Stephanie both tread on thin ice with Donald Trump. In the end, the men came back in to ensure the demise of Mahsa. It was for the best.

After the teams were told what the task was, Steuart stepped up as Project Manager (PM) for Octane. The women hemmed and hawed until Liza finally offered herself up. You could actually hear some saying, “finally!”

The Apprentice: Kelly Gets the Cab Ride Home

Tonight’s episode of The Apprentice was not so much dramatic as it was funny. Well, it was a little sad really. Tasked with setting up a pedicab business in downtown NYC, the teams faced off. Clint went after David from the get go, and deservedly so. In the end, it was the ladies (term used loosely) that wound up in the boardroom, and Kelly that got fired.

The Project Managers were chosen by the teams. Anand for team Octane, and Kelly for team Fortitude. Then the real fun (and some of the best quotes from Clint) began.

The men on team Octane decided to go for a Roman chariot themed pedicab ride to bring in the tourist. It was a great idea and was executed to near perfection. They seemed to have all gears working... except for crazy Dave.

Clint quote #1: “I’ve been to a couple of cock fights and a monkey wrestling, and I’ve never seen the likes of David.”

The Apprentice: Gene and Wade Get Fired Together

Donald Trump enters the Oscar De LA Renta Fash...Donald Trump saw red in the boardroom Image via Wikipedia
In a rather embarrassing episode of The Apprentice tonight, Donald Trump went into the boardroom loaded for bear. After a disastrous fashion show for Rockport shoes, the men’s team went down in flames quickly. There was barely any time for boardroom drama. Trump seemed to have made up his mind before they started. At the end, both Gene and Wade got the boot from The Apprentice.

After allowing Clint to lead last week (even after he told Trump that he would) Wade took the PM position this week. They were assigned the women’s line of shoes from Rockport for the fashion show assignment. Wade went to work assigning tasks to the team. He chose Anand and Steuart to shop and dress the models. Dave stepped up immediately for a speaking part. Wade assigned Gene and Dave the parts of emcee. My guess is, Wade thought Gene could keep Dave in line and on task. That didn’t happen, of course.

Thursday nights offer comedy on two networks. NBC and CBS go head to head for laughs with their lineups. ABC, FOX and the CW keep it dramatic. I’m pretty open on Thursdays and do a lot more flipping than any other night of the week.

ABC
8/7c: Grey’s Anatomy - rerun
Caterina Scorsone guest stars as Derek’s estranged sister.

The Apprentice: Mahsa the Pitbull Stays, Tyana Goes Home Instead

Russell Simmons at Emory UniversityRussell Simmons Image via Wikipedia
It’s now painfully obvious that The Apprentice has become a game of alliances instead of business savvy. After tonight’s boardroom, Tyana was fired instead of the Project Manager Mahsa. She won her task last week as PM, and did get to meet with Russell Simmons.

Quote of the night: "You too can succeed... You're breathing the same air as billionaires..." ~ Russell Simmons when telling Tyana about the business world.

The Apprentice task tonight was to create a guerilla marketing video that would go viral online for Popcorn Indiana. Neither team really hit the nail on the head, but the men came much closer. According to Donald Trump it was very close, but after watching both videos that can’t really be true. It was obvious the men had a better idea, at least, and we saw the corporate guy laughing out loud at the men's video.

The Apprentice: Crazy Dave Survives the Boardroom, James Gets Fired

Ivanka TrumpImage via Wikipedia
Tonight The Apprentice candidates went to the dogs, literally. In a task for dog lovers, the two teams had to design a business strategy for a dog hotel and spa. James stepped up as PM for the men, Tayana took over for the women. Ceasar Milan was a guest judge.

Right from the start, Dave had his eyes on James’ jugular. He was out for blood claiming he had been disrespected. M’kay. Dave is crazy, tonight he proved it. Beware all company CEO’s watching,

Liza felt attacked in the boardroom last week. She was a little, but she was not called in to be fired. Still, she could not shake it. Instead, a cat fight ensued between Stephanie and Liza. Things were finally settled down when the men got bored with watching them.
