Survivor Nicaragua: NaOnka Steals Food and Alina Goes Home

Tonight’s episode of Survivor Nicaragua was short on action and long on drama. Right off the bat teams were merged into a single tribe. Marty named the new tribe Libertad (he said it means ‘liberty’...but since it’s Marty, it could mean ‘pea soup’). The game is down to eleven players tonight after Alina wound up being voted off and becomes the first member of the Survivor Nicaragua jury.

The new tribe was given a chest full of food and happily began gorging. After a while of cooking and feeling taken advantage of, NaOnka decided to steal the tribe’s flour. Then she took a frying pan, a bowl and quite a bit of fruit, and stashed it in the forest. Eating by herself, NaOnka said, “It tastes better when you’re stealing! Like sweet victory!” M’kay.

NaOnka dislikes Alina, so she pretends to be friends with her. She brought Alina into her little den of thievery and Alina had no way out. Instead, she enjoyed the stolen fruit with NaOnka, making herself just as guilty.

The tribe finally started noticing the missing items and NaOnka sat noticeably silent during their search. Alina had a completely guilty look on her face too. Finally NaOnka confessed to the tribe what she had done. Of course, she said she was doing it to ration food for the tribe. They saw right through it. Alina confessed too, it was not as well received.

Chase and Jane made a quick connection as they are both from North Carolina. This made Jane’s stronghold even deeper in the new tribe. Jane has become a huge threat in Survivor Nicaragua, but her looks deceive her strength.

At the Immunity Challenge Jeff Probst announced that there would be two necklaces up for grabs. One for the female winner and one for the male. The challenge was an endurance and concentration task. Holding a pipe between two handles, players had to keep the tension tight to not let the pipe fall and break a tile. It went quickly.

Jane won individual immunity, then continued on in the challenge against the men that were left: Marty, Jud (Fabio) and Chase. Jane stayed in right till the end and even after Fabio won the men’s immunity necklace, Probst had to talk her down. Jane was on a roll. So, Jane and Fabio were safe at tribal council.

The scramble was on for votes back at camp. Jane was on the warpath to get Mary out. She had a good plan, but Sash was against it. Seeing as how this person would be the first on the jury, Sash begged her to not make him break his word to Marty.

It was pretty obvious that the lines had been drawn for Marty and Alina at tribal council. Marty spoke right up to stir the pot. He told of the dangers of Jane and vowed that if she made the final three he would give her his vote. Marty swore no one would win against Jane, and he’s probably right at this point. None of this mattered (other than for future drama), Alina was voted off Survivor Nicaragua despite Jane’s efforts. Benry even added that Alina is a “100% dirty squirrel” as he cast his vote. Ouch.

I don’t really like Marty, but he’s obviously doing what he needs to do to survive. I think Jane has a real shot if she keeps up her strong play. Who are you rooting for on Survivor Nicaragua? I know it’s hard to pick a favorite out of this crew.
