Watching the Biggest Loser is like riding a roller coaster, tonight was no different. In another night of twists and game play, and plenty of yelling from Jillian and Bob, I was disappointed with the outcome of the vote. The update was awesome though, with Bob live at Aaron’s house joined by Jesse.
Here’s how it all went down.
Allison announced that the teams were officially over, and new duos would be formed. She also said two players would be leaving tonight. The two teams with the lowest percentage of weight loss would fall below the yellow line and the rest of the teams would vote one team off.
Contestants immediately started to panic when it was revealed that the winner of the next challenge would get to choose teams for everyone. No one wanted to be paired with Lisa, is what it all came down to... and she admitted to only being 60% committed to the Biggest Loser.
Lisa stated her lack of commitment often throughout the show tonight. Finally Elizabeth, the second lowest usually in the weigh-ins, volunteered to be on Lisa’s team. The two are a match made in heaven with Elizabeth needing a mother figure and Lisa needing to mother something.
At the first workout with Bob & Jilian, Brendan worked out particularly hard to give himself a head start in a temptation challenge they must have been told about in advance. This is so wrong.
The challenge was, in fact, a temptation challenge. Players could order anything they wanted off a restaurant menu. The player that chose to eat the most calories would “win” the challenge and get to choose teams for all. You not only had to order the highest calories on the menu, but you had to finish the entire plate. I thought this was about health.
Brendan, Elizabeth, Frado and Aaron all started out trying to win. It quickly came down to Brendan and Aaron making a deal. Aaron wanted to be Jesse’s partner. Brendan quickly agreed, since it had no bearing on his alliance with Frado and Patrick.
Lisa did not try to win the challenge, but she did decide to “save her calories for dessert”. This is just not a good idea when you are actively trying to lose weight. Not that you can’t treat yourself every once in a while, but not when you are on the Biggest Loser ranch. Come on, now! Lisa ordered a dark chocolate tort, then ate the entire thing... it was 1400 calories.
Brendan won the challenge as planned, eating a gluttonous 3500 calorie meal. He got to choose the new pairs. Here they are:
Aaron & Jesse
Elizabeth & Lisa
Jessica & Ada
Brendan & Patrick
Frado & Mark
The only one visibly upset was Ada, she had told Brendan that she wanted to be paired with one of the guys. She has played hard and lost weight like the men, it was only fair, but this is a game. Brendan is playing for blood, and he doesn’t care who he has to manipulate including his own weight loss.
I was a little disappointed in Ada’s sadsack attitude about being partnered with Jessica. I mean, suck it up a little, at least in front of your new teammate. The two did wind up getting closer and had success this week.
The reward challenge tonight was a sugar cube stacking contest. Each pair had to walk individual sugar cubes to a platform then stack them five feet high. Sounds simple, looked tedious. Jesse & Aaron had a blast and were pretty funny to watch, hopefully neither is an engineer. Ada and Jessica won the challenge, showing the bond that is beginning to form between them. They won a trip for four (each) to the Biggest Loser Resort.
The ongoing drama of Lisa only being slightly committed to the Biggest Loser played throughout the episode, with both Bob and Jillian confronting her. At the weigh-in it cam out that Lisa was doing all the cooking for her and Elizabeth and the trainers went nuts again. Their point was that the entire point of the show is to learn weight loss and cooking on your own. Um, I have an idea: Make the show about that then! Stop all this alliance and weight manipulation and get back to the basics!
The weigh-in results:
Mark 329lbs 317lbs -12lbs
Frado 294lbs 276lbs -18lbs total: -30lbs
Jesse 296lbs 280lbs -16lbs
Aaron 384lbs 380lbs -4lbs total: -20lbs
Lisa 242lbs 234lbs -8lbs
Elizabeth 213lbs 205lbs -8lbs total: -16lbs
Patrick 330lbs 311lbs -19lbs
Brendan 298lbs 280lbs -18lbs total: -37lbs
Jessica 240lbs 228lbs -12lbs
Ada 204lbs 198lbs -6lbs total: -18lbs
The two teams that fell below the yellow line were Lisa & Elizabeth and Aaron & Jesse. It looked like an easy call to me. One team has consistently been at the bottom in weight loss and their commitment was not only challenged tonight, but Lisa said more than once that she was ready to go home. That’s why I’m not on a show like this though. It would be boring.
Instead the votes came down in a painful elimination. Frado & Mark voted for Aaron & Jesse to leave, Ada & Jessica voted for Lisa & Elizabeth, leaving it in the hands of Patrick & Brendan. The ultimate game players voted off their biggest competition, Aaron & Jesse. Lisa & Elizabeth get more time at the Biggest Loser ranch (whether they appreciate it or not).
Bob Harper was at Aaron’s home live tonight for the update. He joined a good looking, much slimmer Jesse in Aaron’s living room. You would not recognize either man if Bob did not tell you who they were, they have both lost an enormous amount. Jesse said he truly gets it now. If he can wake up in the morning, after the Biggest Loser is completely over for him, and make a decent breakfast for himself he has won. Bob pronounced both Jesse and Aaron as winners already.
Ada & Jessica are all I have left to root for on BL10, and they are not very big. They may be in for trouble when they start to plateau. Hopefully they can continue to win challenges and get ahead that way. Apparently they are going to have to play a cut throat game to win this season of the Biggest Loser.
