What’s on Network TV Tonight? (Tuesday 4/12/11)

I love the green market. I walk through every ...Jamie Oliver kicks off his second season of Food Revolution tonightImage via Wikipedia
There are a lot of new episodes on TV tonight, unfortunately for Glee fans that show is not airing one yet. Hold on, they’ll return soon enough. I promise, or at least FOX promises. Take the night to catch an episode of a new show you’ve been missing during the time slot instead (if you’ve seen the episode, that is.) And don’t feel alone, CW fans are still waiting for their new season to start too.

Here’s what’s on network TV tonight:

ABC
8/7c: Jamie Oliver’s Food Revolution - new episode
The season two premier has Jamie Oliver taking his food revolution, promoting healthy eating in schools, to Los Angeles. I want to keep liking this show, but it seems like he’s making the U.S. look bad… maybe we are the ones doing that all by ourselves.

What’s on Network TV Tonight? (Tuesday 3/22/11)

NCIS: Season SevenIt’s a bit of a mixed bag offering for tonight on network TV. Mostly dramas with a tad of reality TV mixed in for good measure. Glee fans will be disappointed, I’m sure, with the rerun. Maybe take the chance to check out a different show you’ve been missing.

Biggest Loser 11: Mother & Leader Marci Goes Home

The Biggest Loser Workout: Cardio MaxIn one of the most tear-jerker episodes of this season, classy woman and mom to all, Marci was voted off Biggest Loser 11 tonight. With tears flowing from nearly every competitor. I don't think there has ever been a classier lady on this or any other reality TV show. I'm sure she'll have great success on her own, but we'll still miss her.

The red and black teams were finally merged into one blue team this week on BL11. Trainers Bob and Jillian finally got a room full of men to push around the gym. Bob was particularly excited about working out Rulon, the former Olympian. I think he just wanted to see what the big man had in him. Surprisingly, even after a terribly tough workout, Rulon did not pull a big number this week.

Biggest Loser 10: Aaron & Jesse Go Home and Still Win

The Biggest Loser: The Workout - Boot CampWatching the Biggest Loser is like riding a roller coaster, tonight was no different. In another night of twists and game play, and plenty of yelling from Jillian and Bob, I was disappointed with the outcome of the vote. The update was awesome though, with Bob live at Aaron’s house joined by Jesse.

Here’s how it all went down.

Allison announced that the teams were officially over, and new duos would be formed. She also said two players would be leaving tonight. The two teams with the lowest percentage of weight loss would fall below the yellow line and the rest of the teams would vote one team off.

Biggest Loser 10 Week 7: Anna Leaves on Marine Week

Biggest Loser Family Cookbook: Budget-Friendly Meals Your Whole Family Will LoveShortened due to election coverage, the Biggest Loser moved at the pace of a Marine Corps boot camp workout. Good thing, since that was the theme for the week. Teams were taken by helicopter to Camp Pendleton to work out with Marines. Both teams failed at food intake though, and Anna paid the price when her team voted her off.

Teams were whisked away to Camp Pendleton right off the bat. The Marines gave the contestants no breaks. Well, okay, they were likely far nicer and more motivational than when trying to break in recruits. The ‘troops’ were up at the crack of dawn though, and moving nearly constantly.

Biggest Loser Season 9: Week 1

Two teams were sent packing from the "Biggest Loser" ranch before getting to unpack. In a new twist for season 9, the "Biggest Loser" kicked off with a 26.2 mile indoor bike ride. The couples competed as a team to rack up the miles and the last two teams to make it... don't make it to the ranch.

Well it's not that bad, they will get another chance. In 30 days, the two eliminated teams will meet up against each other and the team that has lost the most gets to come back to the ranch. Both teams get access to Bob and Jillian, so that's a fair deal.

It's hard to root for any one team yet on the "Biggest Loser" since they just started (it's equally hard not to like any one team).

There is a set of identical twins on season 9 weighing in at 485/484lbs, yikes! The strangest part was, at the end of their weigh in, they both lost exactly 23lbs. Weird. Sadly, the 46lb total weight loss put them in last place for week one and someone on the brown team had to go home. The vote was taken and James was the first person eliminated from the "Biggest Loser: Season 9".

Winter Network TV Season Kicks Off: My favorite new shows

The "Biggest Loser" kicks of tonight and is my first fave to start the next TV season. Another couples version, this is a great show. I said before I don't like the way contestants are eliminated but I love both Bob and Jillian.

Wednesday we get the first award show of 2010 with The People's Choice Awards on CBS at 9/8CST. I'll cover the winners and highlights in case you miss it.

Though I like the awards show, it means I will miss (for now) the new episodes of "Law&Order: Special Victim's Unit" and "Mercy" on NBC. The new hospital based drama, "Mercy", is a surprise to me. I expected to like "Three Rivers" on CBS... nope. I caught "Mercy" on a rerun on a Saturday night and immediately was hooked. These characters are perfect for the show, and well cast.

Saving the best for last, my favorite new show of all is "Shark Tank" (on ABC, Friday 9/8CST). I absolutely love this reality show. Five major business 'sharks' check out the newest invention/idea/business ventures to see if they want to invest. Sounds boring, I know. I thought it would suck or be made up or something. I'll write a full review soon, but suffice to say, this one is worth checking out. Oh, and Mark Burnett is the producer, go figure.

The Biggest Loser Season 9 Starts Tonight

Season 9 of The Biggest Loser kicks off tonight. I like TBL more than I thought I would. I never really liked the fact that people who need help can be kicked off the 'ranch'. It just seems weird that if you are seen as a weigh loss threat, the rest will/may take you out of the game. I suppose those people could be seen as able to go it alone at home better than others, but it still does not seem right. Anyway, I still enjoy The Biggest Loser.
Check it out on NBC tonight at 7pm CST/ 8pm EST. Oh, and it's another couples season.
