Hell’s Kitchen: Emily and Melissa Get the Boot

After two more nearly disastrous dinner services in Hell’s Kitchen season 8, two more female chefs hit the streets (fresh off the boot toe of Gordon Ramsay). Emily bit the dust first, and showed as much emotion as stink bug in September. Melissa followed in the second hour after showing she would cost a restaurant owner a ton of money in spoilage.

Speaking of spoilage, ghetto talker Sabrina continues to hang on for dear life in Hell’s Kitchen. In fact at one point Chef Ramsay declared her “the best of the worst”. Sabrina accepted the praise like he had declared her the winner of Hell’s Kitchen season 8. Not quite, Missy.

The first hour involved hosting a prom for Beverly Hills High School. The three kids on the prom committee were in charge of taste testing the entrees and apps to be served at the prom dinner. These aren’t your ordinary high school kids, as was proven by their food selections. Seared tuna and fusion food were at the top of the list. No burgers or fries for these kids.

Each team went off to make 2 entrees and an appetizer for the taste test. The ladies won the challenge easily and earned a trip to Knott’s Berry Farm. The men got to stay and help decorate Hell’s Kitchen for the prom. They were pissed and took it out on the kids, especially Russell. I’m actually surprised the men got away with their behavior. Trevor stepped up and worked best with the kids.

Dinner service was again a near disaster, again. They got through it, but just barely. Melissa had the worst errors, cooking 23 (yep, 23) fillets at once... before any entrees were called out.  Only Boris and Emily had a worse service. Now if you can screw up worse than someone who wrecks 23 beef fillets, you deserve to go home.

Russell was declared the best of the best on the men’s winning team. Sabrina was called out by Chef Ramsay as well, and told to choose two chefs from the red team for elimination. Yeah, that’s a good idea Chef, give Sabrina power (ugh).

Sabrina nominated Melissa and Emily, though she considered putting up Gail just to get rid of her. She managed to avoid what would have been a major error in judgement.

After only a minute of deciding, Chef Ramsay took Emily’s jacket and hung it on the dreaded nail. Emily did not even seem to mind.

Chef Ramsay was not finished though, Chef Ramsay decided to shake things up a bit more and switched Melissa to the Blue (men’s) team with Trev for the Red team. This never works out well, but it’s fun to watch.

The first challenge of the second hour was a salad entree taste test. The winning entree salad will be featured in Bon Apetit! magazine. It actually came out in a tie, but the editor liked Rob’s salad the best overall, so the Blue team won the reward.

Chef Ramsay quote of the night... “It looks like someone dropped a hamster in the fryer...” about Nona’s quail topped salad.

Trev spent the rest of the day barking orders at Sabrina. When the men returned from their reward, he turned to whine on their side of the kitchen.

Rob’s salad was placed on the Hell’s Kitchen dinner menu for the night. It now seems that risotto and scallops are the hardest dishes to prepare on the show. Both teams struggled with cooking scallops correctly tonight. No one struggled as much as Melissa though. She managed to ruin over seven pounds (7lbs!!!) of scallops trying to make one salad to standards. It was not pretty.

Boris continued to devolve into a puddle in the Blue kitchen, and was asked nicely to leave. Well, as nicely as I’ve ever heard Chef Ramsay say “get out!”. Ramsay just looked very tired by the end of the night. He declared both teams losers... again. Each team had to come up with one person to eliminate.

The Blue team sent Boris, and Chef Ramsay hand picked Melissa to join him up front. The Red team put Sabrina up... again. Ramsay chose Nona to join Sabrina. It didn’t matter in the end, Melissa had nearly ran Hell’s Kitchen out of food in the course of two dinner services. On the back of two horrible nights, Melissa was the one turning in her jacket tonight in the second episode.

It’s not getting easier for Chef Ramsay on Hell’s Kitchen season 8, and with only eleven chefs left the pickings are getting slim. I usually have an idea of which two will meet up in the finals. This season I’m going to guess that it will be two men, but still have no idea which two.

My hope is that Vinny will do well. The previews of next week show him getting the ass-chewing of a lifetime from Chef Ramsay though. So things are not looking good for my choice. It will likely come down to Rob and Russell. I’m not a fan of either yet.

Who do you think will win Hell’s Kitchen season 8? Do you think there are any clear leaders yet? Thanks for watching with me and don’t forget to leave me a comment!
