The reward challenge was a taste and recreate competition. Since none of these cooks have great taste abilities it was a coin flip for the winner. Jay came closest but chose a flank steak instead of Venison for the main protein, a fatal error in the challenge. Holli eked out the win even with the wrong sauce (since it was a lesser error than Jay's).
Ben got mad, and even more arrogant (I did not think that was possible). He worked silently through the punishment portion, not a big change. When it came time to prep for dinner though, Ben claimed his back was too hurt to continue. He slept through the day and called in a chiropractor. All for naught, he still said he was giving up and went as far as to congratulate the other and concede victory (obviously to Jay).
After a sit down with Gordon Ramsay though, Ben had a miraculous recovery. They did not show much of the meeting in Ramsay's office but I'm assuming it went something like this:
Ben: I don't think I can continue at 100% and I don't want to lose that way.
Ramsay: I don't give a bloody f*** what you want, you're not going to f*** the rest of us tonight.
With pissed off looks from the other cooks, Ben took his place at the meat station like a whipped pup.
All four contestants had to take a turn at the pass tonight to show Chef Ramsay that they can lead a kitchen. All got fairly passing grades, but Jay was the clear leader.
At the end of the night Ramsay made quick work of cutting to the final two for Hell's Kitchen. Cutting Autumn first, an act I thought was a little uncalled for since Ben wanted to quit. He followed with Ben quickly after.
Jay and Holli will face off in the finale of Hell's Kitchen next week. Who do you think should win?
