Lara Logan Gives a Powerful Interview on 60 Minutes
War correspondent and recent addition to the 60 Minutes family Lara Logan gave an emotionally powerful interview on 60 Minutes about her recent sexual assault in Egypt. Logan was reporting on the ousting of Egyptian President Mubarak when the celebrating mob turned ugly. When the camera batteries went out unexpectedly, the mob attacked her and pulled her away from the rest of the staff and security. The story is one of gruesome horrors committed, and a strong will to live.
Her full interview on 60 Minutes can be seen here. *warning: parts of the Lara Logan interview are graphic*
To say Logan was assaulted is an understatement. She was brutalized nearly to death, both physically and sexually. It happened right there in the streets during what started out as a celebration of freedom. The 60 Minutes crew were making their way through the mob to find safe place to film the chaos. It was an interpreter that reportedly alerted the security guard to the threats on Logan.

60 Minutes: Afghanistan, Ground Zero Mosque and Drew Brees on the 43rd Season Premiere Episode

In the 43rd season opener of 60 Minutes, reporters took us right into the heart of the battle in Afghanistan. It was scary, at the very least. Moving on to controversies in the US, the 60 Minutes staff probed the “Ground Zero Mosque” issue. In a break from the drama of real life, there is also a biographical piece on Drew Brees (quarterback for the New Orleans Saints).
I felt compelled to watch the premiere of 60 Minutes when I saw the top story on Afghanistan. I felt uneasy as soon as the piece started. Reporter Laura Logan took on the task (with her crew) of bringing us the story from the Afghanistan/Pakistan border. The news is not good. We needed to see this.
