The Voice Premier: NBC Has a Hit on Their Hands
There are a lot of singing competitions on TV right now, so it would take something near genius to get attention for a new one. NBC may have come up with just the right recipe. Blind auditions, preselected by producers to weed out the crap, and a panel of well liked judges that are fun to watch. This may finally put an end to the American Idol machine, or at least force a serious change.
The competition aspect of The Voice seems a little confusing right now. The auditions are blind, so if the coach wants to mentor a singer they hit a button to turn around. The four coaches (Christina Aguilera
, Adam Levine, Cee-Lo Green
and Blake Shelton) each choose eight singers they would like to have on their team. If more than one coach is interested the singer has their choice. Eventually America will choose a winner.

The Sing-Off Season 2 Finale: Committed Wins
After a long night of Nick Lachey and needless dragging out of the announcement, Committed was finally named winners of The Sing-Off season two. The group will get $100,000 and a Sony recording contract (and of course, The Sing-Off trophy).
Street Corner Symphony finished second. The Back Beats came in third when the votes were read, and Jerry Lawson and Talk of the Town finished a surprising fourth. Not so surprising when you consider the voters of most of these talent shows are young.
The two hour Sing-Off finale event was ...long. It was approximately one hour too long. After the show did such a great night of squeezing an entire contest into five nights, they overdid the gala of the finale. It may have been a blessing in disguise though. The groups all sounded a little rusty in their first outings. By the second hour, when they were back to performing solo and the silliness was over.

The Sing-Off: Committed & Nine Other A Cappella Groups on the Season 2 Premiere
The contest is short, only five nights of network competition. A nice change from the usual dragging out on such talent shows. The talent is thick, every group sounds polished and until you hear every note of every performance it’s hard to pick a clear leader. In fact, there are only two drawbacks to watching The Sing-Off: Nick Lechey and Nicole Scherzinger. If you can stomach them for a minute or two between songs The Sing-Off is a great show.
